Learn about edible and medicinal mushrooms that commonly fruit during the spring on the West Coast! Morels, oysters, turkey tails, reishi, shaggy manes, the Prince and several other mushrooms are the focus of this foraging experience. 

What's included:

1. Forest Walk: Spring Habitat

Students will have the opportunity to practice their mushroom identification skills on a guided walk through a suitable forest habitat with Shaggy Jack.

2. Prerecorded Online Class: Mushroom Foraging Foundation: Ecology, Habitat, Identification, Uses

A full introduction for beginners to mushroom foraging, this class covers the basic biology and ecology of mushrooms, the habitat they grow in, everything you need to know to safely identify mushrooms by examining their specific characteristics, how to utilize various tools & resources to confirm mushroom identity, how to harvest mushrooms sustainably, and tips on how to process, cook and preserve mushrooms that you’ve collected. You'll receive a link to view this at your convenience, but we suggest watching it before your foraging walk.

Children - Ages 6-14 are welcome to join the forest walk with an adult. Ages 15+ are considered adults. Children 5 & under are free.
