Wild Mushroom Foraging For Beginners: Spring

Learn about edible and medicinal mushrooms that commonly fruit during the spring on the West Coast! Morels, oysters, turkey tails, reishi, shaggy manes, the Prince and several other mushrooms are covered in this class. The full Spring Class includes:

1. Live Class: Spring Mushrooms

This Module covers the best & most common edible & medicinal wild mushrooms that can be harvested on the West Coast in the spring.

2. Forest Walk: Spring Habitat

Following the Spring Mushrooms live class, students will have the opportunity to practice their mushroom identification skills on a guided walk through a suitable forest habitat.

3. Online Class: Mushroom Foraging Foundation: Ecology, Habitat, Identification, Uses

A full introduction for beginners to mushroom foraging, this class covers the basic biology and ecology of mushrooms, the habitat they grow in, everything you need to know to safely identify mushrooms by examining their specific characteristics, how to utilize various tools & resources to confirm mushroom identity, how to harvest mushrooms sustainably, and tips on how to process, cook and preserve mushrooms that you’ve collected. Also included is the Spring Mushrooms Module, which duplicates and expands upon the information in the Live Class.

Note: This package includes access to both an Online Class & a Live Class; there are no discounts available if you choose to participate in only one of these. Folks may also choose to participate in the Forest Walk only, but this is only recommended for experienced foragers or people who have previously taken Shaggy Jack’s classes.

Children - Ages 6-14 are welcome to take the full class accompanied by an adult. Ages 15+ are considered adults. Children 5 & under are free.
