Tincture Making Workshop
Tincture Making Workshop
Join medical herbalist Laura from House of Origins Apothecary to learn how to make and preserve herbal medicines in the form of tinctures. Tinctures are one of the oldest ways of preserving plants and using them as medicine. We will learn about two ways of tincturing; the folk method and the scientific method. You will also get to make your own tincture to take home with you! Participants will receive a take home formula sheet so they can continue making medicinal preparations throughout the year.
When: Wednesday April 5th from 6pm-8pm
Location: Shaggy Jack’s (1058 Gibsons Way #203, Gibsons, BC)
Laura is a non-binary Medical Herbalist with a diploma in Phytotherapy from Pacific Rim College. They have been practicing herbalism for over 7 years. Their journey began through a need to heal when modern medicine didn't have a solution. They felt a deep sense of not fitting into society's mold and struggled with mental health, leading them to the plant path. Now they focus on deepening their alchemical studies, seeing 1:1 clients, demystifying queerness and providing gender inclusive period care.
Their practice merges western medicine and traditional methods; including scientific and spiritual practices. Full healing comes from a holistic approach, working on multiple planes of each individual. Their philosophy is to help people heal themselves, and activate the innate healing potential within each of us. For more information on Laura's practice, visit the House of Origins Apothecary website.
