Shaggy Jack’s Food Market in Gibsons Public Market is hiring a permanent, full-time Deli Assistant. Shaggy Jack’s Food Market is a community-minded grocery store & deli that prioritizes local, sustainable, artisan & healthy food choices. We are opening a new deli section that will serve fresh sliced deli meats, gourmet cheeses, grab & go meals, sandwiches, smoothies & ice cream cones.

Ideal Candidate:

- food preparation experience
- friendly & customer service-oriented
- detail-oriented in food preparation & packaging
- can work independently with minimal supervision
- works well in a collaborative team environment
- equally at ease working when it is super busy or very slow
- can work standing on feet for full shifts every day
- likes working in a vibrant community space
- passionate about food: likes to prepare, learn about & talk about food

Duties:

- food preparation: making smoothies, sandwiches, soups, salads & bowls, dips, ready meals, etc.
- slicing deli meats & gourmet cheeses to order
- deli counter food service
- customer service, including taking payment at till
- serving ice cream cones
- food packaging 
- deli opening & closing
- maintaining Food Safe standards, keeping food prep area clean 
- assisting with grocery store operations as needed
