Zoom: Wild Mushroom Foraging For Beginners: Spring

Learn about edible and medicinal mushrooms that commonly fruit during the spring on the West Coast! Morels, oysters, turkey tails, reishi, shaggy manes, the Prince and several other mushrooms. The class consists of 2 modules:

1. Wild Mushroom Foraging Foundation: Ecology, Habitat, Identification, Uses

A full introduction for beginners to mushroom foraging, this class covers the basic biology and ecology of mushrooms, the habitat they grow in, everything you need to know to safely identify mushrooms by examining their specific characteristics, how to utilize various tools & resources to confirm mushroom identity, how to harvest mushrooms sustainably, and tips on how to process, cook and preserve mushrooms that you’ve collected. 

This module is also used as the first half of Shaggy Jack's Wild Mushroom Foraging For Beginners: Fall class, and anyone who attends the Spring Zoom session will receive a discount code for the Fall class. 

2. Spring Mushrooms

This Module covers the how to target the appropriate habitat & identify the best & most common edible & medicinal wild mushrooms that can be harvested on the West Coast in the spring. This includes 8 species of morels, including fire & natural morels, and how to differentiate from false morels.
